Symbol DS6707-SR 2D Scanners

configuration sheet

Registration uses Symbol DS6700 family scanners at con for various automation purposes. Chief among them, and the reason we use these instead of much cheaper 1D scanners, is scanning the 2D barcode on US driver's licenses and ID cards for account lookup, identity verification, and new account creation.

These scanners need to be configured in order to be compatible with BACON. Scanning the "Initial Configuration" section of the configuration sheet (click the thumbnail at right) should bring them into a compatible configuration no matter what configuration we receive them with.

When they're not being used by Registration they can be loaned to Logistics for use with their asset management system. In order to be compatible with that system their configuration needs to be changed somewhat, so make sure to scan the "For Logistics Use" section of the configuration sheet. When they're returned to Registration just the "Restore Defaults" section needs to be scanned to bring them back to compatibility with BACON.
