We mostly take issues with following: Fuck, Shit, Piss, Cunt, Cocksucker, Tits, Asshole (The list is from our "you can't say over the radio" list. Censored only so you don't have to stare at them if you don't want to.) but other words may pop up that are inappropriate as well.

General Knowledge

  1. First and foremost: be familiar with the #server-rules.
  2. Be polite! Most issues are going to be unintentional slips from users who may be used to more adult or free for all servers. Even if they're being intentionally malicious, still be polite.
  3. Be cautious. Unless the issue is extremely cut and dry, it's generally best to ask them to edit their message rather than deleting it for them. If you're not sure how to handle a situation, ask! If no one is available to help, make the best call you can and follow through.
  4. Explain what happened. If you have to remove someone's message, DM them and let them know why you removed it.
  5. Record what happened. If you have to do anything, provide a summary in the #moderation channel, including who the person was and what room it was in.

Cursing/Profanity

The server rule is no use of excessive profanity. This was intentional to allow minor infractions without anyone having a meltdown. If the conversation is fast flowing, I would just let a single curse word go.

If it looks like it wasn't a malicious slip, DM the user and ask them to edit their message.

Hello, could you please edit your message? We are trying to keep the server appropriate for younger participants and so we discourage profanity.

We do not (at this time) allow self-censoring with the spoiler tag on words we'd ask people to change anyway.

Racism, sexism, derogatory remarks

We are generally no-tolerance on racism, sexism, or pretty much any of the bad "isms". Delete the message immediately and issue a warning/strike.
