While the wiki is wonderful for a source of knowledge for all the staff, sometimes we need to be able to just hand a volunteer a piece of paper and say "Follow this instruction."

When providing work instructions, volunteer should have the opportunity to read the full instruction and ask any questions before being asked to complete the task. Therefore, the Volunteers department should have a printed copy of all work instructions at the convention.

All work instructions below are located in the Bitrix/Work Instructions workgroup! They are not also in the wiki due to potential for one resource to become out of date. Additional information may be available in the wiki and should be lined to where appropriate.

Programming

Counting a Room

This task counts all the attendees or audience members in a location so we know how popular something was.

Two copies should be provided at the programming checker station, either the badge pinch point, or wherever we're stationing programming people.

Rovers

Badge Checking (Door Guarding)

This task is to verify that a badge is valid and allow an attendee entrance into a badge-controlled section of the convention space.

A copy should be provided at EVERY badge check point: Vendors entrance, back hallway programming checkpoint, main entrance, manga library, other. Generally Video room does not check badges.

Peace Bonding

Before attendees can carry cosplay props around the convention, they need to sign a contract agreeing they won’t do anything stupid with that prop. The peace bonding desk helps people fill out that contract using the company-owned tablets and adds a custom zip tie to the prop to indicate it has been peace bonded.

A copy should be available at the peace bonding desk, and possibly at registration if registration is also doing any peace bonding, however we generally want to keep our zip ties controlled in one location.
