Cosplay Cooldown Room

The Cosplay Cooldown Room provides a quiet, calm space for cosplayers to take a break and make repairs. Located in the same room as the Cosplay Repair station, it contains chairs, a full length mirror, and a fan. The room is monitored by Repair Station volunteers, and photography is prohibited, making it ideal for resting weary feet away from crowds.

Setup involves ensuring the mirror is secured, arranging the chairs and tables comfortably, confirming the fan is operational, and stocking setting up the repair station. Policies should be clearly posted reminding cosplayers that it is a place for peace and privacy during hectic convention days. Volunteers play an important role in maintaining the serene atmosphere and accommodating any special requests within reason so cosplayers can refresh before returning to the action.

The Cooldown includes the Cosplay Repair station, and is usually located right next to registration, but may move as needed.

As a secondary function, this room is the "home base" of the Cosplay Department.

A Brief History

SNAFU Con attempted their first Cosplay Cooldown room in 2014. The room went largely unused and was considered for elimination. They had it again in 2018, where it got moderate traffic, but was often used as a staff hangout. It will be back after the Lost Year as a designated room combined with the cosplay repair station.
