The Cosplay Repair Station provides tools, supplies, and space for attendees to make emergency repairs or adjustments to their costumes and props. It is typically set up in the same room as the Cosplay lounge.
Tasks
- Review the Cosplay repair box for items
- Budget request missing/needed cosplay repair items
- Schedule the cosplay repair station
What it Needs Stocked
- Sewing kits (needles, thread, pins, seam ripper, scissors, tape measure)
- Fabric glue, hot glue guns, glue sticks
- Double-sided and fashion tape
- Safety pins, straight pins
- Scissors, x-acto knives, rotary cutter
- Heat gun, steamer
- Wire, fasteners, snaps, elastic
- Makeup remover, body glue solvent
- Bandages, moleskin, blister care
- Chairs, tables, electrical outlets
Procedures
- At least one volunteer must monitor the room at all times when open
- Attendees sign a liability waiver before using hazardous tools
- No photography allowed inside repair station
- Tools must stay in the room - no removals
- Report any injuries or incidents promptly
- Keep area tidy, restock as needed
- Take inventory at end and pack supplies for storage
To Run It
- Set schedule with hours when repair station will be open
- Purchase supplies within allotted budget
- Recruit volunteers to monitor room in shifts
- Print liability waivers and have on hand
- Arrange tables, chairs, outlets to create work stations
- Post signs with rules and procedures clearly
- Brief volunteers on policies and restocking
- Regularly check in on volunteers and resupply
- Thank volunteers for their time
